About MarkWhistlerGallery.com
In 2007, Whistler opened the Mark Whistler Gallery in Baltimore, Maryland with the intent of creating a “people's gallery” seeking to transcend the typical elitist attitudes that too often run wild within most art communities.
Over the following two years, the Mark Whistler Gallery found immense applause and support by the local community, showing work from nearly 50 artists, while also supporting many non-profit organizations, including the Christopher Place Employment Academy and Our Daily Bread, which serves nearly 250,000 hot meals to Baltimore's less fortunate each year.
In late 2008, Whistler closed the gallery for a larger move to New York City. However, the Mark Whistler Gallery lives on though the Internet, remaining a “people’s gallery” where any and all artists can show their work, regardless of experience and/or tenure.
Continuing the gallery's original tradition of helping artist's show their work without the typical "art-world elitism", while also continuing to aid non-profit organizations, the MarkWhistlerGallery.com is always open to new artists and new charities.
