Photographer

Originally from Denver, Colorado, The Mile High City is where Travis Rowan first discovered his passion for photography. Initially inspired by the pages of National Geographic and travel magazines, he left Colorado in his early twenties with the desire to seek out more exotic lands and cultures to capture his visions. Traveling virtually non-stop for the past 15 years, Travis has shot works for numerous magazines, while also having spent three years as a staff photographer for the publisher of travel and architecture magazines in Asia and Indonesia.

Most recently, Travis has relocated to Maui, Hawaii, where (as he states it), "I scuba dive nearly everyday and run a freelance photography business."

In regard to his formal photography education Travis says, "Beyond some photography courses in high school I have no other formal training. You might say I'm self-taught, however in truth I've been lucky enough throughout my travels to meet many incredible photographers who graciously shared their knowledge with me and made a better photographer. Although I enjoy traveling and photographing some of the worlds most beautiful places, I've always felt like I can see extraordinary things in the otherwise ordinary. Using the camera as a tool, I try to realize that vision. Movement is a common theme in much of my favorite work. I sometimes "freeze movement", though most often attempt to simply allow "movement to move", providing a more dynamic feel to the image."

Inquiring about what genre Travis groups his work within, the amazing photographer replied, "I find it very difficult to categorize my work. Perhaps 'diverse' is the word that best describes my portfolio. I enjoy photographing most everything (except weddings and fashion) and stay up with the latest techniques and equipment to keep my photography fresh and evolving. Anything, from underwater with sharks to posh interiors of luxurious tropical villas or ancient Buddhist temples, superyachts to intimate portraits."
